Information for visiting Historic, Classic / Vintage Vehicles 2025

We are delighted to welcome Vintage and Classic cars to the Museum on this years published open days.

We would appreciate vehicles to arrive prior to 11:00 am and stay until 4:00 pm. In recognition of this request we will grant free museum entrance to the driver and one passenger as our guests.

If you are driving a Traction Engine or Steam Roller please feel free to arrive and depart when convenient.

Historic / Classic Vehicle Entry Policy for 2026 (issued May 2025)

To qualify for a free entry grant to the museum on open days, from 2026, vehicles must conform to the following requirements:

i) Historic Vehicles* Free for driver + 1 passenger, additional passengers to pay normal entry fee. Owners will be supplied with a Historic Vehicle Parking Pass on first visit to simplify future entry.

ii) Pre-arranged Club/Group Visit. Clubs or groups of historic, classic, marque or special interest vehicles Free for driver and + 1 passenger, additional passengers to pay normal entry fee. A one-day parking pass will be issued to club/group organisers by email to circulate to their members – this pass must be displayed on entry.

iii) All motorcycles. Free for rider +1 passenger, additional passengers to pay normal entry fee.

All ‘Classic Cars’ and ‘Cars of Special Interest’ that do not fall into the categories above will be charged the normal visitor entry rates from 2026 and will be parked in the public car park. Owners of these vehicles are encouraged to take out PIMS membership this year and consequently be eligible for free entry in 2026, subject to membership renewal.

From 2026 PIMS members will be eligible to park in the Rear Orchard rather than the public car park, thus giving these vehicles access to preferential parking. Gate and Reception Volunteers will hold a list of valid membership numbers eligible for free entry / preferential parking.

* Historic Vehicles To qualify for free entry the vehicles must meet the Government eligibility criteria to be registered as a Historic Vehicle i.e:

➢ the vehicle was built or first registered more than 40 years ago

➢ no ‘substantial changes’ have been made to the vehicle in the last 30 years, for example replacing the chassis, body, axles or engine to change the way the vehicle works
